The Shell Eco-marathon is a unique competition that challenges students to design, build and drive vehicles with the maximum possible energy efficiency. Since the first marathon, in France, in 1985, the Shell Eco-marathon assembles thousands of students throughout the world, all keen to solve energy problems.
WHY IS AGAP2 INVOLVED?
A real educational platform, the competition invites students to apply their knowledge to design, build and compete with vehicles achieving the maximum possible energy efficiency. In 2016, for the 17th consecutive year, the ESSTIN competed in the Shell Eco-marathon Europe. Preparing and competing in the marathon forms the third or fourth year industrial project for the 23 students of the team, supervised by 7 teachers and supported by 3 ESSTIN technicians.

The Shell Eco-marathon Europe 2016 was held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in London, for the first time. The challenge was combined with the Make the Future festival, a 4-day event that celebrates bright ideas and potential solutions that could meet the energy challenge of the modern world.
Every year, the competition is held in two other places, in Asia and in North America. In 2016, the Shell Eco-marathon was held in Manila, in the Philippines, and in Detroit, USA.
