A look back at the round table organised by the agapiennes network for female employees

What is work/life balance?

In a constantly changing world, the notion of work/life balance is more than ever at the heart of the concerns of individuals and organisations. This often-used term conceals a complex reality that merits careful consideration. The COVID-19 pandemic amplified this subject, revealing issues that are essential to our well-being at work and in our personal lives.

Work-life balance cannot be reduced to a simple relationship between professional and personal life. Instead of seeing it as an end state to be achieved, it is preferable to see it as a set of choices and adaptations. Personal values play a crucial role in this quest, forming a compass that guides our day-to-day decisions.

The challenges of well-being at work

A study carried out in 2022 by OpinionWay revealed that work-life balance now ranks as one of the most important criteria for young graduates when choosing a company. This development highlights the need for organisations to adapt their practices and implement policies that promote the well-being of their employees.

On Tuesday 08 October 2024, the agapiennes network for female employees organised a round table with our partner the Curiosity Club. Sandra Fillaudeau, CEO of Conscious Cultures and creator of the ’Les Équilibristes’ media, spoke alongside Rémi Minvielle, Director of Human Resources, and Lauriane Bourienne, Consultant and agap2 Project Manager.

This exchange highlighted not only the challenges encountered but also the need to question our own balance.

The wheel of life: a useful exercise for finding your balance

To work towards a better work/life balance, it’s essential to start with individual reflection. Tools such as the ‘Wheel of Life’ can help to assess satisfaction in various areas of life, including family, work, leisure and health. This exercise not only helps to identify imbalances, but also to define practical action to improve these aspects.

agap2 initiatives: a step towards balance

At agap2, a number of initiatives have been put in place to promote this balance. The agap2dream programme, for example, supports projects run by our Agapians, encouraging personal and professional development. In addition, our partnership with the Vendredi platform helps to raise awareness of social and environmental issues among our consultants, thereby strengthening our collective commitment.

Conclusion: we all need to question our own balance

The search for a balanced life is a process that requires time, introspection and a willingness to change. Rather than looking for a single model to follow, it is essential to focus on our individual values and choices while encouraging a corporate culture that values the well-being of all.

The question is: how can we, individually and collectively, work towards a more satisfying work/life balance?
